Canterbury
With its many historic sites Canterbury is a world famous tourist attraction. Its inspiring cathedral, site of Becket's martyrdom, was the lure for the pilgrims of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales". Its walls, narrow streets and old buildings are reminders of a great archeological city. Now modern tourists are attracted by its blend of medieval atmosphere and modern amenities.

The majestic, magnificent Cathedral , the mother church of Anglicans worldwide, dominates the skyline around the city. A few hours are easily spent admiring the scale of the architecture, the beautiful stained glass and the intricate fan vaulting.

Canterbury has all the facilities of a modern city with fine shopping, many restaurants and pubs and an array of entertainment to whet the appetite.

Canterbury, lying as it does at the heart of "The Garden of England", provides easy access to many attractions in the county. You will find historic buildings, museums, gardens, steam railways, vineyards, wildlife parks, picturesque villages, beautiful scenery - and, of course, Kent County Cricket Club.
